Youth Connection is a youth camp that happens every year
around June in Magaliesburg, Gauteng. The event focuses on young people who
want to know more about God and allow God to take over whatever challenges they
face as young people.
Youth connection program connects young people from all South African provinces to come share their testimonies as well as the devotion they have for God. The camp is a three-day program and it happens from Friday till Sunday.
Every attendee is provided with free food, t-shirt and
entry ticket. There are activities and entertainment activities that are done
during the event. The camp doesn’t focus on the Bible only but it allows young
people to be free and have a good time.
Vukani Nkosi who is the founder, and a division youth
leader explained the motive of the Youth connection program.
“The purpose of the youth connection is to teach young
people the word of God and also show them how important it is to worship the
Lord as well as connecting with God spiritually,” he explained.
Motivational speakers are given a chance to come motivate the youth. They teach them different things and allow them to raise their issues and things that affect their daily lives.
Thabang Meso an attendee at the youth connection said
that youth connection allows young people to interact with one another. He
further explained that the very nicest thing about youth connection is that its
teaches young people the word of God and the minute they start to know God and
know who he is, it becomes easier for them to face their challenges.
More than 100 people attend the camp and all of those
people are well taken care of. Youth connection is a program sponsored by the
Salvation Army, a church that has many branches in South Africa.
Mpumi Nkwanyana who is also an attendee said, “I got a
chance to know people from other provinces and learn how people see the
Salvation Army. I also had fun during the entertainment activities.”
