Zwide ka Langa community tournament is a soccer
competition that happens annually at Soweto, Naledi. The purpose of the
competition is to discover new and fresh talent in townships.
Shikisha FC and East to Soweto FC went head to head at Cc
Naledi Stadium on Saturday, 13 August 2022 for the Zwide ka Langa community
tournament, the match took place at 12 noon.
On the first half of the game both teams came out strong, the match was
tough.
East to Soweto FC had 3 shots on target while Shikisha FC
had 1 shot on target. The first half of the game ended with the score of 0-0.
Both teams substituted in the second half of the game.
East to Soweto FC player Karabo Mathane scored the first goal. East to Soweto
FC has been leading but not for long. Shikisha FC player Gift Dube scored the
first goal for the team.
Ishmael Madonsela, the coach for Shikisha FC said the
game was fine, East to Soweto FC scored first but Shikisha FC fought as a team.
He added that substituting players really helped hence substitutes were the game changers. Shikisha FC went all out on today’s game.
Musa Gumede, East to Soweto player got a free kick after
being partially injured. After a few minutes Shikisha FC scored their first
goal, Vukani Sokhela scored another goal for Shikisha FC, the team was on lead
with a score of 2-1.
East to Soweto FC Coach Lucky Mabe said, “The game was
tough but at least the team managed to learn from their mistakes.”
East to Soweto player Karabo Mathane played very well, he was titled the man of the match. Karabo Mathane said this about the game, “The game was very nice, the problem was that our opponents didn’t give up easily, my team after scoring their first goal they got to comfortable and relaxed.”
Shikisha FC won the game and the team is expected to play
next week Saturday for the Zwide ka Langa tournament semifinal.
